This paper from researchers at the University of Oxford examines the potential impact of automation on jobs, finding that about 47% of total US employment is at risk of computerisation over the next decade or two. As technology races ahead, low-skill workers will need to reallocate to tasks that are non-susceptible to computerisation – i.e. tasks requiring creative and social intelligence. For workers to win the race, however, they will have to acquire creative and social skills.
