Deloitte’s 2021 Millennial and Gen Z survey reveals that after a year of intense uncertainty due to the Covid-19 pandemic, political instability, racial discord and severe climate events, millennials and Gen Zs around the world are determined to hold themselves and others accountable on society’s most pressing issues. Key findings include health and employment have climbed to the list of top concerns, and millennials and Gen Zs also remain deeply concerned about climate change and the environment. The data also shows that the stigma around mental health challenges in the workplace remains, with about a third of respondents reporting they have taken time off work due to stress and anxiety caused by the pandemic.

All countries around the globe face the challenges of a world of work under transformation, caused by a combination of the effects of globalization and of technological, climate and demographic changes. This report from the Pew Research Center reveals that Millennials and Gen Z stand out for their high levels of engagement with the issue of climate change. Compared with older adults, Gen Zers and Millennials are talking more about the need for action on climate change; among social media users, they are seeing more climate change content online; and are doing more to get involved with the issue through activities such as volunteering and attending rallies and protests.
